I have had or plan to have sexual experiences with someone of the same sex. Do I need to worry about HPV?

Yes. HPV affects everyone no matter your age, gender, sexual orientation, or relationship status. Since HPV is transmitted through skin-to-skin sexual contact and sex toys, all sexual activity below the waistline puts a person at risk. Also, some cancers caused by HPV disproportionately affect people who have had same-sex or bisexual experiences. In addition, Trans people are also disproportionately affected by cancers caused by HPV. This is why it is important for everyone to get the HPV vaccine.
